2012 Fridley Municipal ElectionMunicipal elections are nonpartisan (candidates are not endorsed by a political party) and are held in even numbered years. Fridley's City Charter requires if more than two candidates file for the same office, all names appear on the August Primary Election ballot. The names of the two candidates receiving the most votes in the Primary will advance to the November General Election ballot. Due to the change in the date of the state primary election, Individuals interested in filing for a municipal office must now file between May 22nd and June 5th, 2012.
2012 Municipal Offices up for Election in 2012Offices up for election are Mayor and Councilmember at Large. After filings closed on June 5th at 5:00 p.m., the individuals that filed for office and will be placed on the November 6th ballot are:
2012 Fridley Municipal Candidate Filing InformationIndividuals wishing to file for office, must file between May 22nd and June 5th of this year. The City is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the exception of Memorial Day May 28, 2012. If a candidate choses to withdraw from filing, they have until 5:00 p.m. on June 7, 2012. After the withdrawal period is over, the City must then certify the results of the filings to Anoka County so the names can be placed on the ballot and the ballots can be prepared. The Nominating Petition must be circulated during the candidate filing period and those signing the petition must be active registered voters of the City of Fridley. 2012 Campaign Finance Information
As a candidate for office you will be expected to file campaign finance reports with the City Clerk's Office. The first campaign finance report is due within 14 days of spending or receiving $750. Once your first report is filed, you are then expected to file other reports on specific days during and after the campaign. The Campaign memo provides information on when to submit your reports and the campaign manual provides campaign and campaign finance information.
