Child Safety Seats

Did you know it's estimated that 4 out of 5 car seats are installed incorrectly?

It is the law to have your child in a child safety seat until the age of four. In addition, a child who is BOTH under age 8 and shorter than 4'9 must be fastened in a child safety booster seat that meets federal safety standards. We recommend keeping a child in a booster seat based on their height rather than their age.

A booster seat raises the child's seated height which allows the belt system to comfortably and safely rest across their body. A properly installed car seat or restraint is your child's best defense against being seriously hurt in a crash or sudden stop.

Child Safety Seat / Car Seat Inspections are conducted at the Fridley Police Department on an appointment only basis and are free for Fridley residents. To schedule an appointment, please email SafeKids@fridleymn.gov.
In addition, the Anoka County SAFE Kids Coalition offers FREE car seat inspections at monthly clinics (10 per year) throughout Anoka County. Clinics are also by appointment only.
