Fridley Municipal Television began operations in 1982. Initial programming consisted of City Council meetings and imported programs. Most of the time, the channel showed text messages. Today, the Municipal Channel staff creates 80 to 120 programs per year. These programs are designed to inform Fridley residents about topics of interest within the City of Fridley, including government meetings, Call on the Council, Community Development Journal, recycling programs, public safety programs, recreation and senior center programs. Government meetings covered by the Municipal Channel include City Council, Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Appeals Commission and Planning Commission. On DemandSelect programs are also available free on Comcast Cable's On Demand, but a digital cable box is required. Tune your box to Channel 1, choose "Get Local," then "Civic on Demand," and then "Fridley." City Council and Commission MeetingsCity Council meetings are shown live at 7:30 p.m. Planning Commission, Appeals Commission, and Housing and Redevelopment Authority meetings are at 7:00 p.m. Meetings usually replay the following day at noon, 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. Meetings also replay the following weekend at noon and 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Sundays. The latest Council meeting runs every day at 7 a.m., every Monday at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., and every Sunday at 10:00 p.m. If you would like to know when a program is scheduled to play or request a replay of a program, please contact the City's Cable TV Division. Public Access Channel 15The Fridley Public Access Channel is run by the City of Fridley. To be played on Channel 15, programming must be produced by or at the request of a Fridley resident or organization. Programs offering products or services for sale are not allowed.
